Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is IP Geolocation?

IP geolocation is 99%+ accurate at the country level and 80-90% accurate at the city level. It points to the ISP routing gateway rather than an exact physical street address.

What happens when I enter a domain name instead of an IP?

The system resolves the domain through secure DNS resolvers into an IPv4 address and displays the datacenter location, hosting provider, and ASN of the server.

Can local or private IP addresses be looked up?

No. RFC 1918 private addresses (127.0.0.1, 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x) and cloud metadata IPs are non-routable on the public internet and safely flagged under our SSRF protection shield.
